Description
Fine art southwest scenic landscape photograph capturing the desert ruins of a stone-built miner's shack below the colorfully banded bulk of Temple Mountain in Emery County, Utah.
This historic mining district in the San Rafael Swell is known for its abandoned uranium mines. The sedimentary deposits, once the shorelines of inland seas, range from Permian to Jurassic in age.
Terrestrial and marine fossils occur here but the uranium concentrations within the fossils make handling the specimens a bit dicey.
