Description
Portrait of a male American Bittern (Botaurus lentiginosus) hoping his streaked feather patterns will serve as camouflage. These elusive herons are adept at the art of concealment, and often stand frozen, beaks pointed skyward, to blend in with vegetation. It’s springtime in the wetlands and this comical-looking male has come out of hiding to drum for a mate. Hopefully the girls don’t think he looks silly!
This wildlife photograph of a wild American Bittern is being offered in vertical format.
